Gender Empowerment and Social Inclusion

Gaia, under a confidential programme, in collaboration with international partners has been involved in the delivery of a Gender Empowerment and Social Inclusion Training.

In Sub-Saharan African much progress with electrification has been made over the years, with more than 20 million people gained access to electricity between 2014 and 2018. However, the region still faces the challenge of providing access to 595 million people who currently do not have access to electricity, and the growing population in electrified areas. Limited access to energy in Sub-Saharan Africa contributes to a gender disparity as women spend three to five times as much time on energy consuming domestic activities than men.

In Mozambique, Gaia is part of the team that delivers the work to a number of stakeholders including Government, Investor, Civil Society and the Private Sector. This work will be undertaken in collaboration with the Mozambique Women in Energy.

This project was managed by our team in Maputo, Mozambique.
