Gaia is a boutique consulting firm with a focus on the fields of energy, environment and sustainability dedicated to helping businesses, cooperation partners, governments and civil society in Mozambique and Sub-Saharan countries in the development and implementation of sustainable solutions as well as in the transition to a sustainable low-carbon future. Gaia aims to recognize and advance the concept of women as agents of change and drive transformation towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

We took inspiration in naming our business after the Gaia Theory. This theory declares that planet earth is a single ecosystem or organism, which regulates itself by feedback mechanisms between the abiotic and biotic components of the system (Lovelock, 1979). Our societies and our businesses share infrastructure and resources and there is an interconnedness and interdependencies between these elements that needs to be understood and managed.

Mission

At Gaia, our mission is to support organizations in the building of effective strategies for the creation of a sustainable future, through the development and management of integrated and systems-based approaches to poverty alleviation, environmental and social preservation, gender equality and energy access.

Our vision is to be a reference consulting firm in Sub-Saharan Africa involved with reshaping organizations, societies, markets and business investment decisions to look beyond environmental, social and governance factors on their advancement towards sustainability.
